Neonatal & Infant Chiropractic Care

Gentle, age-appropriate chiropractic assessments and care for newborns and infants.

The early stages of life are a period of rapid growth and development. We provide gentle, age-appropriate assessments and chiropractic care for newborns and infants, supporting healthy movement, comfort, and development in a safe and nurturing environment.

Dr Caprice Webb has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in infant development and holds certifications through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), ensuring the highest standard of specialised care for your newborn.

Neonatal & Infant Chiropractic Care at Dunn Bay Chiropractic Dunsborough

Why Bring Your Newborn to a Chiropractor?

The birth process, regardless of whether it is straightforward or complex, places physical demands on both the mother and the baby. Tension, strain, or restrictions in the spine and surrounding soft tissues can sometimes occur and may contribute to discomfort, unsettled behaviour, or difficulties with feeding and sleep in the early weeks.

Neonatal and infant chiropractic assessments are gentle, thorough, and adapted specifically for the smallest patients. Techniques used for newborns involve very light pressure, no more than the pressure you would comfortably apply to your closed eyelid, and are completely different to those used in adult chiropractic care.

Parents often bring their newborn in for assessment where they notice signs such as unsettled behaviour or excessive crying, difficulty latching or feeding asymmetrically, preference for turning the head to one side, asymmetrical head shape, or discomfort when lying flat or during tummy time.

Infant Development & Milestones

As infants grow, their musculoskeletal system develops rapidly. Dr Webb monitors developmental milestones such as head control, rolling, sitting, crawling, and early standing, and can identify areas of asymmetry, tension, or restriction that may benefit from gentle intervention.

Early assessment and care may support healthy neurological and musculoskeletal development, helping infants meet developmental milestones comfortably and confidently.

Dr Webb also has a special interest in breastfeeding support and works collaboratively with lactation consultants where difficulties with feeding may have a musculoskeletal component.
